Replying to a tweet, Sri Lanka legend Kumar Sangakkara said that Kohli could break the former’s record of 2868 runs in 2014.
Kumar Sangakkara’s 2868 runs in 2014 will remain as the highest tally ever recorded in a calendar year as Virat Kohli ends year 2017 with 2818 runs #Cricket

I don’t think that will last long the way @imVkohli is batting. He will probably overtake it next year and then do it again the year after. He is a different class.

Virat Kohli has finished 2017 with 2818 runs in all formats, and will take a break for the limited-overs break against Sri Lanka, to prepare for the South Africa tour.
In Kohli’s absence, Rohit Sharma will lead the side, as they look to continue their dominance at home.
