Techie held after trolling Sharad Pawar from Sara Tendulkar's fake Twitter account

Mumbai: Nitin Shishode, a software engineer from Andheri was arrested by the Cyber Police on charges of allegedly creating a fake Twitter account of Sara Tendulkar, daughter of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar and uploading malicious content against NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

The police also seized a laptop, two mobile phones and routers from the 39-year-old’s residence in Mumbai.

The techie, who has been engaged in computer and Internet-related business, has been booked for impersonation, cheating and defamation under IPC and the IT Act.

The accused was produced in a local court and remanded in police custody till February 9th. While being interrogated, Shisode also revealed that created fake Twitter handles of a few Bollywood personalities.

A case has been registered by the Cyber sleuths after Sachin Tendulkar’s personal assistant filed a complaint regarding Sara’s fake Twitter account, who has been studying abroad. The authorities then tracked the IP address from which the comment was posted to Shisode's residence in Andheri.

The incident occurred during October 2017 when Sara’s fake social media handle posted a derogatory comment regarding Mr Pawar. Angered by the comment, NCP legislator Jitendra Awhad later sought an explanation from Tendulkar.

Following that, the cricket icon took to Twitter and revealed that neither of his children - Sara or Arjun, did not have existing Twitter accounts and requested officials to take down fake handles registered by their names.

“I reiterate the fact that my children Arjun & Sara are not on twitter. We request @Twitter to remove all such accounts at the earliest. Impersonation wrecks havoc, creates misunderstanding & traumatises us. I appeal to the platforms to take corrective measures immediately,” the batting legend mentioned in a series of tweets.
