Kohli, Bhuvi, Bumrah and others may be rested for more games ahead of World Cup 2019?

Mumbai: The ICC Cricket World Cup is less than a year away, and Virat Kohli-led Team India have a hectic schedule in the upcoming months.

Having lost the ODI series 2-1 to England in July, the Men In Blue, without Kohli clinched the Asia Cup by beating Bangladesh in the final.

Kohli was rested for the six-nation tournament, and according to a Times of India report, he among other top players including Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah could be rested for more matches keeping in mind the upcoming Australia tour.

"Virat could be rested again if need be to ensure he is fit for the World Cup. It is a rotation policy which the team has initiated to keep the best combination for the World Cup in June 2019,” a BCCI source said to the Times of India.

India are set to play the second Test against West Indies starting on Friday with an eye on clinching the series. They had beaten the Caribbean side by an innings and 272 runs in the first Test that concluded recently. The second Test will be followed by five ODIs and three T20Is.
