Haseeb Hameed was all praises for Virat Kohli during the fourth Test against England, in Mumbai.
Mumbai: Haseeb Hameed has been a revelation for England, during their tour of India.
The 19-year-old Indian-origin England opener showed great temperament in the first three Tests as he scored at an average of 43.80.
The English batsman was pulled out of the squad and final two Tests after he fractured a finger during the Mohali Test. While he was not on the pitch, Hameed was seen in the stands in Mumbai, egging his team on.
When asked about Virat Kohli during the lunch break on the first day of the fourth Test, Hameed was all praises for the India captain.
“He’s (Kohli) a humble and sincere guy off the pitch,” Hameed said on Sky Sports, while being interviewed by former England captain Mike Atherton.
The 19-year-old says that he was humbled by Kohli’s praise. He also went on to reveal a little snippet of the conversation he had with the India skipper, after the Mohali Test.
“We spoke about the mindset, and how that can help (a batsman). Its something that will remain with me forever,” said Hameed.
Speaking about his younger days, when he came to Mumbai to train under Indian coach Vidyadhar Paradkar, Hameed said that the experience in the subcontinent helped him get used to the atmosphere.
“Playing in Mumbai as a kid obviously helped a lot,” said Hameed. “Just to get a picture of how Indian bowlers try to get the wickets was a massive help.”
