India vs Sri Lanka: Kedar Jadhav ruled out of ODI series with hamstring injury
Jadhav suffered the injury during a training session ahead of the first ODI.
Mumbai: India’s right-arm off-break bowler Kedar Jadhav was on Saturday ruled out of the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring injury. Uncapped Washington Sundar will replace the 32-year-old Kedar, ahead of the first ODI on Sunday.
Jadhav suffered the injury during a training session, and will undergo scans as the BCCI medical staff continue to monitor him.
Kedar Jadhav was a part of India’s side when the hosts defeated New Zealand 2-1 in a three-match ODI series. In terms of T20Is, he last played the shortest format of the game against Australia, back on October 10.
Washington Sundar had an IPL to remember with the Rising Pune Supergiants in April this year, having been a part of the team which reached the final. He picked up 8 wickets from 11 matches he played in the tournament.
Rohit Sharma will lead Team India in the absence of Virat Kohli, who has been rested for the limited-overs series ahead of the South Africa tour. The three ODIs will be followed by three T20Is, with the final T20 at Wankhede Stadium here on December 24.
India squad for SL ODIs: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Washington Sundar.
