After Virat Kohli, Ashish Nehra says MS Dhoni will always be the captain
Indian skipper Virat Kohli had earlier said that former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will always remain his captain.
Mumbai: Indian skipper Virat Kohli melted many hearts when he said former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni will always remain his captain. The Delhi lad is not the only Indian cricketer to hold such a special place for Dhoni, his teammate Ashish Nehra has resonated similar respect and love for ‘Captain Cool’.
“For me, he will always (be) the captain, said Nehra to BCCI.tv. “Yesterday, I met him after 5-6 months and the first thing, (I asked) was how are you captain?”
The pacer has spent a lot of time with the Jharkhand cricketer in the IPL side Chennai Supers Kings. Nehra said Dhoni loves his job as a cricketer and is never perturbed by the pressure of statistics or records.
“What he has done everybody knows. But more for me, personally, I spent so much time with him in the Chennai Super Kings’ dressing room, people have seen what he has done on the field but he is an amazing guy off the field as well.
“He is not worried about what people say, he is not worried about stats or any records. He just comes, plays and enjoys. He is the same normal guy. He just loves doing things which he does.”
The bowler also added that the former captain is a great role model for the young cricketers.
“On the field, he is a great role model for the whole of India and even in the dressing room, any youngsters comes, everybody looks up to him. The way he prepares for the game and his mental strength, which I am always the fan of.”
