'I am really excited for the position and will make a difference.'
Mumbai: Pakistan new coach Mickey Arthur will buy few Urdu books to learn the national language of the country where his new assignment begins early next month.
Speaking after being named as coach of the Pakistan team, Mickey Arthur said, "I will certainly like to learn a bit of Urdu so I can communicate."
"I am really excited for the position and will make a difference."
Arthur is yet to speak to any of the players.
"I have not spoken to any players. I will be getting to Pakistan at the end of the month. I am studying exactly where all the players are physically, mentally and technically and trying to put individual in place," he added.
Pakistan is scheduled to play its first of the four Tests matches at Lord's (July 14-18).
The Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq has just returned from Saudi Arabia where he went to perform Um-rah (pilgrimage visit).
Arthur's another task would be to find a new physio for the team as Zimbabwe's Brad Robinson has resigned due to his family reasons and also he is planning to start his own individual practice. (Brad Robinson's father, Ian Robinson, who was an international umpire died recently).
The contract for the trainer, Grant Luden is extended till September.
"I will only make a decision (on support staff) when I get to Pakistan," Arthur said.
Interestingly, Mickey Arthur has his own cricket academy in Perth.
The Academy offers high quality innovative and age appropriate coaching based on all the fundamentals of cricket. It has been designed to build on existing talent of the players and unearth new strengths with a specific cricket coaching program for individuals.
"I will keep it running while I am away and let a young coach operate it," he signed off.
