Chandigarh: India women's cricketer Harmanpreet Kaur on Monday was withdrawn from the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) after her graduation certificate was confirmed to be fake.

Punjab Chief Minister Amiarinder Singh had offered the DSP post to Harmanpreet in July last year, following her scintillating performance in the Women's World Cup 2017.

According to a report in the Times of India, she can still be retained as a constable.

“The state government has written to Harmanpreet that since now her qualification can only be treated as Class XII, she  can at best be retained by the Punjab police as a constable," said a senior government functionary in Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's office.
