Mumbai: One may have played against Sachin Tendulkar but not every sportsman gets a chance to interact with the legend. Sripali Weerakoddy — a 30-year-old woman cricketer from Sri Lanka — will soon meet the former India batting icon.

The bowling all-rounder has been chosen ambassador for sporting goods company Spartan where Tendulkar is a part.

She will also rub shoulders with India limited-overs skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

The sporting goods firm has a galaxy of stars like as their brand ambassadors like Sir Vivian Richards, Chris Gayle, Eoin Morgan and Neil Wagner to name a few.

She is not only the first Sri Lankan but also the first woman in the sub continent.

"Tendulkar and Dhoni are two of my idols in world cricket. I have met Dhoni in the 2009 T20 World Cup in England and found him a lovely warm-hearted man and I am excited to meet Tendulkar for the first time in the future,” she said.

"I have had the privilege of meeting many international cricketers at various Words Cup events throughout the last 10 years.”

"I carry this honour with great pride and will visit all parts of India and Bangladesh and UAE as well my home country and Pakistan over the coming months.”

"I hope to inspire young girls to achieve greatness in sport no matter what adversity they may encounter,” added Sripali.
