Mumbai: Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s time as a captain in Indian colours has come to an end after the warm-up match between India A and England, which the latter won by three wickets.

This caps nine glorious years for Dhoni, who had led India to three major ICC silverware – the ICC World T20 (2007), ICC world Cup (2011), and the ICC Champions Trophy (2013).

Dhoni came in to bat a number five, after Ambati Rayudu smashed a ton and retired to the dressing room. The former India skipper took his time to get set, but soon got into the action, scoring a quickfire unbeaten 68 from 40 balls, hitting eight boundaries, and two sixes.

While Dhoni’s knock was not enough to help India defeat England, it capped an entertaining evening for the fans, who turned out in numbers to watch the India skipper play his last match as a captain in India colours.
