Mumbai: The auction for the 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is just around the corner and the players who were not retained by their franchises have already put their base price for the auction. The auction will be taking place in Bengaluru on 27th and 28th January.
It is learnt that Team India discards Harbhajan Singh, Yuvraj Singh and Gautam Gambhir have put themselves into the auctions for Rs 2 crore, according to a report published in the Times of India.
The other cricketers who have joined the 2 crores pool are Indian legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal, West Indians Chris Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard, and former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum.
Harbhajan Singh has been part of Mumbai Indians (MI) for 10 seasons and also won IPL title with the Paltans. In 2011, the veteran led the team to Champions League T20 glory.
But with his IPL future still in doubt, the off-spinner hopes to perform well for whichever team picks him up in the auction.
"I've had a great decade-long relationship with MI. I'll look to bowl well and win games for whichever team I play for in the IPL. Let's see what happens at the auction," says Harbhajan."
Meanwhile, all-rounders Yusuf Pathan and Irfan Pathan have kept their base price in the auctions for Rs 75 Lakhs and Rs 50 Lakhs respectively.
Yusuf Pathan was given a five-month doping ban, but the BCCI has back-dated the suspension from August 15, 2017, effectively which will see his suspension end on January 14, 2018.
