Kohli joins Tendulkar, Dravid, Dada, Dhoni in highest ODI run-getter list for Indians
With his 75 runs in Pink ODI against Proteas, Kohli surpassed Mohammad Azharuddin and Chris Gayle in list of highest ODI run-getters.
Johannesburg: Virat Kohli missed out on his third hundred of the series and India could not close out the six-match ODI series in the fourth ODI against South Africa at Wanderers in Johannesburg on Saturday. However, the Indian cricket team skipper sailed past yet another landmark as he went past Mohammad Azharuddin (9378 runs) to join the top five list of Indian run-getters in ODIs.
Kohli, who now has 9423 runs in ODIs from 206 matches, is behind the other legends of Indian cricket – Sachin Tendulkar (18,426 runs), Sourav Ganguly (11,363 runs), Rahul Dravid (10,889 runs) and MS Dhoni (9954 runs).
With his 75 runs in the Pink ODI against Aiden Markram-led Proteas side, Kohli also surpassed West Indies' star batsman Chris Gayle (9420 runs).
Kohli, meanwhile, also became the only second cricketer after AB de Villiers to score 350 plus runs in an ODI series in South Africa. Kohli has thus far scored 393 runs in the series with the scores of 112, 46*, 160* and 75 in the first four ODIs.
The Indian skipper, who now has 34 ODI hundreds against his name, is the second only after Sachin Tendulkar (49) in the list of cricketers with most ODI tons.
