Mohammed Shami-Hasin Jahan saga: Here's what Jahan's father said about Shami

Kolkata: Mohammed Shami's father-in-law Mohamed Hassan on Sunday spoke up on the ugly controversy surrounding the Team India pacer and his daughter. Jahan had earlier accused Shami of having extra-marital affairs with many women along with claiming the cricketer was involved in fixing matches.

Not only Shami, but four other family members were also accused of torturing Jahan that saw them being charged under several Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections.

Hassan said he was totally unaware of the situations that were taking place and suggested the couple should reunite.

"We are unaware of the reasons behind the dispute between Hasin Jahan and Mohammed Shami. We got to know about it through the media. Only Shami and Hasin would be able to tell what actually has happened. We don't know much about it. Shami was a good person. He speaks less. We had no doubts about him. Only God knows how things have turned ugly," he was quoted as saying to ABP News.

Jahan never opened up to her father over the problems she faced but said things were "out of her control” after speaking to him recently.

"Hasin said on a call that she never wanted to tell others about it keeping in mind it's a matter related to her family but when things went out of control, she took this step," Hassan added.

However, Shami on Saturday refuted all claims made against him and said he would resolve the matter with Jahan.

“I’m devastated, the allegations came as a shock to me, I will still stand as a wall to protect the image of my wife and daughter. I don’t think anybody can understand what I’m going through right now. I can only hope that she understands my side of the story and resolves it,” Shami said.

The Bengal pacer even demanded a thorough investigation into the matter after his new BCCI contract was upheld.

“Whether it is me in the audio clip or not can be cleared later and it will be cleared once investigations are done with. If I had taken any money then it must reflect in my transactions. So I would request everyone to wait for the investigations,” Shami continued.
