The Indian Premier League has begun, and so have the IPL-themed offerings. As city folk root for home team RCB to finally win the silverware, pubs and cafes are gearing up for fans with big screens and themed spreads. There’s a whole lot on the menu with IPL drinks, appetisers and even desserts that restaurants and pubs have come up with, and it’s a ‘toss’ up of some great ideas!

Abdul, manager, Doodle Cafe and Bake shares the IPL plans the cafe is working on, “Matches will be projected on the big screen. There is also an IPL-themed pizza menu like Smokestack Challengers — for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Dildaar Devils for Delhi, Royal Musketeers for Rajasthan. The cafe also plans to set up a field like decor during the matches that will give the fans a feel of a cricket ground.”

Matches and tipple always go hand-in-hand, and what better than a drinks section dedicated to your favourite team, right? Socials Bengaluru has come up with a 20/20 League dedicated to IPL in their Long Island Iced tea section with eight amazing drinks for everyone to show support for their team of choice and the players! The idea is simple, while no one can guarantee a win for their team, on the pitch; off it — that’s a whole new ball game!

Even Monkey Bar has a full menu dedicated to IPL called the Cricket Toss which is fun, eclectic and celebrates the diverse flavours of India in the true spirit of T20 cricket. From Kolkata Fish Fry to Hyderabad Nagarjuna Chilli Chicken Roll to Bangalore Prawn Chilli Butter Garlic to Delhi Butter Chicken Samosa and Chennai Pulled Pork Paniyaram.

Another one of the reasons people want to watch the matches outside, and not at home are the big screens and 1Q1 Kitchen and Bar also has special plans. Anirudh Kheny, a partner says, “There is an a 18X10 feet screen, which gives fans a theatre-like experience, which is one of the main attractions here. But, apart from that, there are large pitchers and platters so that people coming in groups don’t have to order again and again and interrupt their match.”
But, is the excitement pounding up amongst fans? Regular and dedicated fans love watching the matches live at these venues.

Sunil Chaudhary, an engineering student who roots for his favourite team, RCB, joins these events as he feels that it makes the match even more special. “When there are a room full of people, screaming and shouting and joining in with your anger when your team misses a shot, or jubilant when Virat Kohli scores a sixer, the entire room comes alive. That is the feeling you want to go to these restaurants and pubs for. I even like the fact that they make it so special for all of us, with the interesting things on the menu, the stadium-like ambience and everything else!”
