Mumbai: While India have given a fitting reply after England amassed 537 runs batting first, former England skipper Michael Vaughan criticised Rajkot wicket on Friday.

England, after electing to bat on Wednesday, managed to get past the 500-run mark as Joe Root, Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes scored tons. While India lost Gautam Gambhir early, Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay notched up hundreds and made sure that the hometeam stays in hunt.

While the match is poised for an interesting finish, the pitch at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium came under Vaughan’s scrutiny.

England’s Ashes winning skipper took to Twitter, saying:

This is not the first team when Vaughan has taken on Indian pitches. Following the India versus New Zealand game in the ICC World Twenty20 where spinners dominated the proceedings, Vaughan said that such wickets bring lesser teams into the game.

During the India versus South Africa Test series last year, Vaughan was even more scathing in his criticism for Indian pitches.
