Mumbai: Gautam Gambhir may have got out cheaply against England in the first innings of the Rajkot Test, but his form off late has been fantastic.

His terrific form in domestic circuit allowed Gambhir to make a comeback to India Test team, two years after he was dropped. The opener scored a fifty against New Zealand in his comeback Test in October.

A lot of credit for Gambhir’s revival has been given to his new stance. The Delhi batsman has now adopted an open-chested stance, unlike his orthodox stance, where the right shoulder would face towards the bowler.

Gambhir first started using the new stance in 2016 IPL. The improved stance allows Gambhir to play short balls easily on the either side of the wicket, something that has troubled him for long.

Gambhir’s new stance was discussed on air by the commentators during the ongoing Test between India and England in Rajkot.

Listen in to the explanation.
