London: Currently leading the Indian cricket team as it looks to defend the ICC Champions Trophy it won under MS Dhoni in 2013, Virat Kohli revealed how Bollywood actress and girlfriend Anushka Sharma continues to be a big part of his life and how her presence in his life has been fruitful.
In the past, Virat had stood up for Anushka when she was termed “unlucky” for the Indian batsman.
The Indian skipper, during an interview with sports broadcastser Star Sports, opened up on how Anushka happened to be with him when he was named India captain in Tests in December 2014 and in the limited-overs cricket earlier this year.
“I was in Mohali and there was a Test series going on. I was with Anushka then, she had come to visit me. Surprisingly, when I became the Test captain then also she was in Melbourne with me. That was a very special moment we shared together,” said Kohli.
“During the Mohali incident, they (BCCI) had spoken to me already. When I hung up the phone and told her, for me it was like a flashback. From the moment I started playing in my academy till the Mohali game. I was emotional. I was in tears because I had never thought that I will see this day,” added Kohli.
“What was more beautiful was that, I was able to share it with Anushka. It was something that I will always remember,” concluded the Indian skipper.
The duo, who reconciled after a brief break-up, was recently been spotted attending Zaheer Khan and Sagarika Ghatge’s engagement celebrations. The two also danced at Virat’s teammate and India’s World Cup-winning hero Yuvraj Singh’s wedding with Hazel Keech.
Virat had also wished Anushka, alongside his mother, on the occasion of women's day.
On Valentine's Day, Virat had posted a message for Anushka with the picture of the two.
