CSK team meeting before IPL 2018 final lasted only five seconds, reveals MS Dhoni
A dominant CSK beat SRH by eight wickets to clinch their third IPL trophy, thanks to an unbeaten 117 by Australia's Shane Watson.
Mumbai: ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni was at his best during the Indian Premier League (IPL) last month, guiding Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to their first IPL title in seven years.
CSK were coming back to the tournament after a tough two years’ time, during which they were banned due to the spot-fixing scandal.
However, fans witnessed ‘vintage CSK’ as an all-round performance by the entire team was the key to their success.
While many would have thought that ‘Thala’ Dhoni had a long discussion before the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), the Jharkhand cricketer recently revealed that the team meeting with coach Stephen Fleming lasted for just five seconds.
Dhoni was speaking at the Star Reimagine Awards function recently.
“Go, get it, boys.' And it got over”, is what Fleming had said, according to Dhoni as per a Times of India report.
"I think at that point of time, we were quite relaxed about how we'd conducted ourselves throughout the tournament. And everybody's role and responsibilities were very clear. So, you need to address something if it really needs to be addressed," said Dhoni.
"You know, there's no point, just because if there's a captain and a coach of the team, you've to say something. The team meeting that we had, lasted hardly five seconds. (Stephen) Fleming was like: 'Go, get it, boys.' And it got over," added the 36-year-old.
A dominant CSK beat SRH by eight wickets to clinch their third IPL trophy, thanks to an unbeaten 117 by Australia’s Shane Watson. Dhoni, too, had a successful tournament, scoring 455 runs from 15 matches.
