Mohammed Shami-Hasin Jahan saga: Is this the real reason behind the spat?

Kolkata: The controversy surrounding Mohammed Shami and wife Hasin Jahan has been undergoing intense media scrutiny. Developments in the case are speeding up and new allegations are being made with each passing day.

Jahan previously accused the India pacer of extra-marital affairs and domestic violence along with his family and claimed that Shami was involved in fixing matches. But it is now learnt that the entire saga may be due to Jahan’s unhappiness over the couple’s farmhouse in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.

The Bengal pacer wanted to launch a sports academy in his hometown Amroha and had purchased around 60 acres of land for its development. A sum of over Rs. 10 crores was invested by Shami in the plot, but his wife was angered by the decision as she wanted him to purchase a new property in West Bengal, where the couple used to reside, according to a report by ABP News.

After his new contract was upheld by the BCCI, Shami quashed all allegations made against him and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter.

However, Jahan claimed that the UP-born bowler was twisting the facts.

"He is making up all sorts of things to save himself and not answering clearly. He is actually beating around the bush and avoiding questions. I tried to convince him that he should accept his mistake but he didn't listen to me. At last, I was forced to reveal his wrongdoings in public. It is Shami, who is at fault. His misdeeds are now out in open," she said.

She also added that his behaviour towards her changed once she got access to his phone.

"As soon as he got to know that his phone was missing and I have got its access he started behaving well. This was all out of fear. He was afraid that his wrongdoings would be revealed. Had I not got hold of his phone, he would have ran away to Uttar Pradesh and sent me a divorce notice by now," she added.
