New venues will be decided after written judgement: Rajeev Shukla
IPL chairman says he doesn't see the ban as a disappointment.
Mumbai: IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla said the league committee and BCCI will wait for the written judgement by the court before deciding on alternative venues.
“Till the time we receive the written judgement, we can’t say anything about the new venues. Only after receiving that, we can think how to proceed,” he said after Bombay HC ruled IPL out of Maharashtra after April 30.
“We were ready to provide relief but now, we have to follow the court’s order. One month back, I said we are willing to help the Maharashtra farmers. I had made that statement long back,” added Shukla.
But Shukla said there is no distress in the camp following the verdict.
“It is true that there will be problems shifting matches but I don’t see it as a disappointment,” he said adding: “We feel for the farmers in Maharashtra, and that’s why we were ready to provide financial assistance to them.”
But the court said merely donating money wasn't enough. However, this is a huge loss for BCCI and the franchise holders in the cash-rich league.
On the other hand, Kings XI Punjab co-owner Ness Wadia - one of the first to talk about shift of matches - said he is elated at the judgement which is a victory for the drought-affected people.
