Division league: Ramesh, Rohit smash 200s
Benjamin, Mallikarjun hit century each; Tanay, Saaketh, Akash, Pandey, Jayasuriya and Quraishi do well with ball.
Hyderabad: Mansing Ramesh and Rohit Rayudu hammered a double century each to emerge Wednesday’s best performers in Hyderabad Cricket Association’s top division league matches played at various grounds here.
Tanay Thyagarajan scalped six wickets for Sporting XI while Akash Bandari, Saaketh Sairam, S. Pandey, A. Jayasuriya and Adul Ela Al Quraishi picked five wickets apiece while Benjamin Thomas and J. Mallikarjun scored a century each to be the next best in the three-day action.
In the Pool ‘A’, Jai Hanuman batsman Rohit hit 207 to propel his side’s total to 430. Rohit’s tremendous innings came in 402 balls and included 15 boundaries and four sixes. Tanay of Sporting XI picked six wickets while giving away 163 runs in his 53.4 overs spell. By the end of the second day Sporting XI were 88 for 2 in 28 overs.
In Pool ‘B’, Cambridge XI’s Ramesh was a talisman as he slammed an unbeaten 212. In his 290-ball innings, the right-handed batsmen struck 21 boundaries and hit three sixes.
Playing a good supporting role Mallikarjun made a scintillating 107 with the help of 12 fours and four sixes. As a result Cambridge declared their innings at a mammoth 434 for 4. Continental were 3 for 1 in 2 overs at the end of the first day’s play.
In another match, SBI declared at 391 for 9. Akash took a five-wicket haul (5 for 76) for SBI and played a crucial role in wrapping up Deccan Chronicle for 153. Following on, Deccan Chronicle were 15 for 2 in 10 overs by close of play.
In the encounter between Andhra Bank and BDL, the latter were bowled out for 184 as Saaketh was the principal wrecker with his five wickets for Andhra Bank. Saaketh’s figures read as 16-3-73-5. Andhra Bank were 184 for 6 in 35 overs in their second innings.
In another match, Benjamin’s belligerent 112 propelled EMCC to 318 for 5 against R. Dayanand. The right-handed batsman’s 186-ball knock included 14 boundaries and a maximum.
AOC’s S. Pandey came up with brilliant bowling skills to take five wickets while giving away 48 runs. He bowled eight maidens in the 20 overs he sent down. The right-arm mediumpacer’s spell helped AOC skittle Hyderabad Bottling out for 216. AOC were 140 for 5 in reply.
In another clash, Jayasuriya picked five wickets for India Cements to restrict Gemini Friends to 344. In reply, Quraishi scalped five wickets for 40 runs as the India Cements stumbled to 127. Following on, Cements made 130 for 4 in 28 overs by close of play.
