Australia's Rene Farrell is bowled over by a journalist

Chennai: There are quite a few tales of women athletes getting bowled over by their men counterparts. But, Australian cricketer Rene Farrell, who has been part of two World T20 title winning team, finds her inspiration from a different profession. Rene is “crazy” about Australian TV Journalist Karl Stefanovic. She is in so much love with Karl’s Today show on Channel 9 that Rene “pleaded” the scribe to have her as a guest after winning the Ashes last year.
“He is a great personality. Anyone would idolise him if they had grown up watching his morning show on TV. And I got a chance to bowl to him and it was a dream come true moment for me. I enjoyed it,” said the 29-year-old, who is in the city for the World T20.
Rene said her next target is to have a go at female journalist Mel McLaughlin, who made headlines after West Indian star Chris Gayle’s “sexist” comments during a live chat in the Big Bash league. “I know she is a Thunders fan (Rene plays for the same franchise in Big Bash). I’m excited about bowling to her,” said Rene brushing aside the Gayle-McLaughlin incident as “unfortunate.”
