Yuvraj Singh's father not pleased with Hazel Keech's reported name change

Mumbai: Following Yuvraj Singh’s marriage, it was reported that Indian cricketer’s wife Hazel Keech has changed her name to Gurbasant Kaur. India’s World Cup-winning hero tied the knot with the model-actress on November 30 in Chandigarh.

The decision to change the name was suggested in the recent wedding by Baba Ram Singh, Yuvraj Singh's family is an ardent follower of Baba Ram Singh, it is learnt.

This apparent decision (to change the name) has not gone well with the former India player Yograj Singh, the father-in-law of Hazel Keech.

"What is this nonsense? For me Hazel would remain Hazel only. Change of name will not change the identity of Hazel," said Yograj.

"This is all this so called self-styled Baba's nonsensical talks. I believe in only one God," added Yograj.

It is a known fact that Yuvraj and his brother, Zoravar, were born in a Punjabi-Sikh family to Yograj Singh and Shabnam Singh. However, the parents divorced and Yograj later married to Satbir Kaur.

"Yuvaj's mother and our other family members had attended the wedding. I didn't attend Yuvaj's wedding because I don't believe in this talk of Baba. Such talks can't change the fortunes of people," said Yograj.

"For me, she (Yuvi's wife) is Mrs. Hazel Yuvaj Singh. I don't take this suggestion if changing name seriously,” concluded Yograj.

Interestingly, Sharmila Tagore was officially christened Ayesha Sultan when she married to Tiger Pataudi in 1969. But there was no compulsion. It was just a token of gesture. But late Pataudi'w wife is always known as Sharmila Tagore.

The other interesting name of cricketer's wife is Navjot. The name of former India player Navjot Singh Sidhu's wife is also Navjot. She is Navjot Kaur.
