Mumbai: Australia cricketer Aaron Finch – who struck gold for Gujarat Lions this IPL with three half-centuries – suffered cramps during the match against Mumbai Indians here on Saturday.

Though he led his team to victory, he went down on his knees during the run chase. Finch smashed his helmet into the ground after a quick second run in the last ball of the 18th over and held his hamstring.

Lions’ medical team rushed to provide assistance. The temporary cure did not work much for he was struggling to run between the wickets during the last two overs.

However, Finch finished the proceedings and remained unbeaten on 67. He hit the winning runs off the last ball.

After the match, he told Sony Six: “I was starting to cramp in my calf first and it's obviously very hot here. I think it was just cramp but we'll wait and see. "I feel good, I feel like I'm batting nicely so I'd like to continue.”

Finch scored a 50 and 67 in the first two matches for Lions and won the Man of the Match award in all games.

A year back, Finch tore the same hamstring when he turned out for Mumbai Indians. He came back stronger after a surgery that kept him out of action for 12 weeks.
