Ind vs Eng, 2nd Test: India end day 1 at 317/4 in Visakhapatnam
The strong partnership between Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli helped India post 317 on the first day against England.
Visakhapatnam: Cheteshwar Pujara (119) and Virat Kohli (151 not out) powered India to 317 runs on the day one of the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam on Thursday.
The home side made a solid recovery after being 2 down for 22. Pujara and Kohli made sure England did not cash in on the early dismissals of KL Rahul and Murali Vijay.
England, however, managed to get Pujara and Rahane in the final session of play to redeem themselves a bit.
India made two changes to their side as KL Rahul and Jayant Yadav replaced Gautam Gambhir and Amit Mishra in the playing XI. For England, Chris Woakes was not picked in the team as part of rotation system and Anderson made a comeback to the team.

That's the end of day one's play. R Ashwin did well to see off the last over, bowled by Stuart Broad. India lost the crucial wicket of Ajinkya Rahane in the second last over of the day. The batsman fell to returning bowler James Anderson.

Virat Kohli survives a review for an LBW appeal off Moeen Ali. Kohli attempted a rare reverse sweep, missed the ball and it hit him on the knee-roll. The replays showed the ball was not hitting enough of leg-stump to overturn the original decision of not out.

Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane are slowly building back the Indian innings. This innings is going to be very crucial for Rahane, the middle-order batsman failed in both innings of the Rajkot Test.

WICKET! James Anderson has given England their third breakthrough as he breaks 226-run partnership between Pujara and Kohli. Pujara (119) tried to smack a short a delivery. A very good knock nevertheless

India were 22/2 when the duo joined hands and how well they have batted to punish the England attack. Pujara had to wait and go through the nervous moments as the dog forced an early tea break. But he did not lose his head. Came out and as soon as Adil Rashid bowled a hit-me-ball and smacked a six to bring up his 10th Test ton and third hundred in the last three Tests.
Kohli, meanwhile, strolled for two runs as he brought up his 14th Test hundred. He missed out in Rajkot on a wicket that offered so much to the batsmen. He was not going to repeat it in Vizag. Well played.

Fifties! Pujara and Kohli have continued their good work and brought up their half-centuries. England had a chance to dismiss Kohli but Adil Rashid dropped a catch off Ben Stokes' bowling to give India skipper a chance to prolong his stay in the middle. India will absolutely not mind that.

Lunch on day one! India have done a fine job to keep England bowlers at bay after losing KL Rahul and Murali Vijay early on day one. The duo of Pujara and Kohli have steadied the Indian innings as team go in for lunch break. India will want these two to continue their good work in the post lunch session.

Visakhapatnam: India have won the toss and elected to bat in the second Test against in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. The hometeam has dropped Gautam Gambhir and Amit Mishra from the team as KL Rahul makes a comeback and Jayant Yadav makes his Test debut.
England, on the other hand, have made one change to the playing XI. Chris Woakes sits out as part of rotation policy and James Anderson, England’s veteran pacer, makes a comeback to the team.
The first Test of the series ended in a draw.
