Perth: Young Indian batting sensation Prithvi Shaw was on Monday ruled out of the remaining Test matches against Australia.

The uncapped Mayank Agarwal will replace the 19-year-old Mumbaikar.

Shaw was carried off the field after landing on and rolling over his left ankle while fielding on day three of the tour game against Cricket Australia XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground last month.

The incident happened in the 15th over of Cricket Australia XI's innings, when Max Bryant latched on to Ravichandran Ashwin's delivery and hit him for six at midwicket.

Shaw managed to get under the ball and catch it, but spilled the chance whilst tumbling over the ropes. In the process, he injured his ankle.

Shaw was visibly in pain and didn't get up immediately. He was carried off the field by two members of the Indian support staff without putting any further pressure on his ankle.

The teenager made his Test debut against West Indies in October. He had scored his maiden century on debut in Rajkot whereas he followed that up with a knock of 70 in the second Test in Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya has been added in the squad for the third and fourth Tests against Australia.

India’s squad for the 3rd and 4th Test against Australia: Virat Kohli (captain), M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane (vice-captain), Hanuma Vihari, Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Parthiv Patel (wicket-keeper), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya, Mayank Agarwal
