Mumbai: The IPL’s ‘true-all rounder’ Andre Russell, who has been an entertainer this season both with bat and ball for Kolkata Knight Riders will not feature for his side’s crucial encounter against Gujarat Lions at Kanpur on Thursday.

According to reports Russell did not travel with the team to Kanpur on Tuesday evening.

Gautam Gambhir-led KKR need to win both their remaining matches to book a berth in the playoffs and the coaching staff will hope Russell can regain his fitness as soon as possible. The medical staff are monitoring his injury and a status of his injury is likely to come out in the coming days.

They boast of a positive net run-rate (0.28) and can make the knockouts even if they do not win their remaining matches. However, if that has to happen then they will have to depend on other teams' results going their favour as well.
