England captain Ben Stokes deployed a never-seen, unique field set up to dismiss the opening Australian batter Usman Khawaja on the third day of the first Test match of the Ashes 2023 series between England and Australia at Edgbaston. Video of the unconventional umbrella-field set by the England skipper went viral on social media with cricket lovers praising Ben Stokes for his proactive captaincy and terming the field setup as ‘Brumbella’. The unique field was designed with no slip fielders and six fielders in catching position around Khawaja.

The England captain’s master strategy proved to be successful as Usman Khawaja bowled in the very next delivery.

For all those who missed the first innings, Usman Khawaja was on fire and made a mockery of the England bowling attack with his fantastic innings.

He rained four sixes and 14 fours to score 141 off 321 balls after the Aussie top order collapse. This was also his first Test century in this match.

And he got so comfortable that it did not seem like he was getting out anytime soon as he was taking on England's bowlers effortlessly.

England decided to use the unconventional field setup by placing six fielders in front of the wicket. There were 3 fielders on both leg side and off side, which caught the left hand batsman by surprise.
