Post Nirav Modi fraud accusation, Virat Kohli to end ties with Punjab National Bank?
It is being learnt that Virat Kohli, who is the brand ambassador of the bank is planning on cancelling his tie with the financial firm.
Mumbai: Punjab National Bank (PNB), one of India’s most renowned multinational banking and financial services company has been making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. PNB recently disclosed a fraud worth Rs 11,400 Crore and accused diamond billionaire Nirav Modi behind it.
While the Supreme Court (SC) has agreed to hear a plea seeking an inquiry into the scam, the news has been going viral throughout the nation. The scam has also damaged the reputation of both the parties concerned.
However, it is being learnt that Virat Kohli, who is the brand ambassador of the bank is planning on cancelling his tie with the financial firm. The India skipper was roped in as a brand ambassador in 2016 by PNB in order to improve their status after they were hit with rising bad loans.
Kohli, back then had advised everyone to open their accounts in PNB as the Delhi batsman also owned an account since the age of 16.
But given the bad times PNB is undergoing, it might be time that Kohli ends his association with PNB.
“For a few days now, Punjab National Bank’s scam has grabbed headlines and it’s obvious that Virat who is the face of the brand feels that he should walk away from them. Like any other celebrity, even Virat would not like to be a face of the brand which has been in a negative light,” a source was quoted as saying by International Business Times.
Even MS Dhoni who was the brand ambassador of the high profile Amrapali Group, snapped his ties after the brand was accused of delays in construction projects and several other complaints,” the source stated.
