R Ashwin slammed for Chennai Super Kings, Manchester United's Munich crash comparison
While R Ashwin took to Twitter to clarify his stand, the Twitterati minced no words slamming the Indian tweaker.
Chennai: Ace Indian off-spinner R Ashwin came under fire from sports fans after he compared Chennai Super Kings’ comeback to the Indian Premier League after 2-year hiatus with Manchester United’s resurgence post the 1958 Munich crash.
In what termed as one of the saddest incidents in the history of sports, a plane carrying Manchester United players, support staff, journalist and fans, crashed at the Munich airport during the third attempt to take off and 23 out of 44 people died.
The Tamil Nadu cricketer, who was an integral part of the Chennai-based IPL side, said, “I think the two years of hiatus increases its value, like it did for Manchester, when the air crash happened. I don’t know if it’s in the same league, but people in Chennai are looking forward to it (return of CSK) and fans across the country are also looking forward to it.”
BCCI, on last Friday, welcomed back CSK and Rajasthan Royals to IPL after the two teams completed the two-year suspension following the spot-fixing scandal.
Ashwin, who left for Sri Lanka for the three-match Test, took to Twitter to clarify his stand.

However, the sports lovers minced no words as they slammed the Indian tweaker.
How did you seriously manage to compare the death of a world class team to a team kicked out for betting scandals and match fixing?

Munich Tragedy was a break ? Are you serious ?
— Supreeth Mohan (@supreeth28) July 19, 2017
People lost lives in the Munich air disaster-a tragedy. CSK were a bunch of frauds who were punished for their misadventures, deservedly.

Check your facts b4 making absurd statement
There was no respect in that statement to the victims of Munich disaster. You just can't compare the frauds of CSK with them.
