BJP MLA slams unpatriotic' Virat Kohli for Italy wedding with Anushka Sharma
Opposition leaders slammed the BJP leader for questioning integrity of cricket captain.
Bhopal: A ruling BJP MLA of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday sparked a row when he described India cricket captain Virat Kohli as anti-national for choosing Italy to marry Bollywood star Anushka Sharma.
“Virat Kohli cannot be the idol of youths in the country since he had chosen Italy as his marriage destination. He earned money and fame in India but preferred Italy over his country to hold his wedding ceremony,” the BJP legislator Pannal Lal Sakya said while addressing party workers in his constituency of Guna in MP.
The star cricketer’s decision to get married in Italy was “unpatriotic,” he said.
“Can’t he (Virat) find a place in India to get married? He can’t be the idol of youths in India. Bhagwan Ram got married in this land. Bhagwan Krishna got married in this land. And this man went to Italy to get married,” he said.
