Niroshan Dickwella undergoing counselling
Dickwella is among the trio of Sri Lankan players (Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka) to be suspended by the SLC board
Sri Lankan wicket-keeper and batsman Niroshan Dickwella has been consulting a few top psychologists, it is learnt.
Dickwella is one among the three (the others two being Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka) who have been suspended by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) for breaching the bio-bubble on the last England tour.
On July 30, the SLC'sri s Ex-co meeting decided to instruct the Mandatory Counselling to the suspended trio.
"He (Dickwella) is taking advice from a few top consultants in a personal capacity", one of his close associates, speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo, said on Thursday. "He will be a pure and proud Sri Lankan no matter what".
His associate also rubbished the media reports, which stated that all three intend to leave the country for the USA and play there.
"These USA reports are just gossip without any credentials. Dikka will use these as a motivational factor".
"Dikka's aim is to practice hard and come back to the Sri Lankan national team as a mentally and physically strong man and win games for Sri Lanka. He gained everything because of Sri Lanka cricket. He will be nothing but 100% committed to Sri Lanka cricket. He made a mistake, he accepted his fault and apologized to SLC verbally and in writing", the source further added.
It is not known whether all three have paid the fine of Sri Lanka Rupees 10 Million which was imposed for each player, however, the source confirmed that Dickwella (and maybe other two also) would request the board to relax its stance.
