Hubbali: Mayank Agarwal and Vinay Kumar starred with the willow to steer Belagavi Panthers to a comfortable eight-wicket victory against Namma Shivamogga in the fifth edition of the KPL at the KSCA stadium in Rajnagar here on Tuesday.

Mayank (69, 47b, 2x6, 5x4) and Vinay (40, 37b, 1x6, 4x4) stitched a crucial 81-run partnership in 65 balls to help Panthers overhaul a modest target of 125 in 16.5 overs.

Earlier, Shivamogga rode on knocks from Stuart Binny (29) and Pawan Deshpande (23) to post a fighting totle as leg-spinner Praveen Dubey bagged four wickets.

William shines
In the second clash of the evening, Chetan William’s splendid all-round show powered Hubli Tigers to a three-wicket win against Bellary Tuskers in a rain-affected encounter.

Owing to heavy downpour, the target was reduced to 139 in 16 overs via VJD method.

The hosts Tigers sprinted to the revised total with seven balls to spare. Mohammed Taha led the charge with 52 while William remained unbeaten on 28 for the winners.
