Virat Kohli had opted for a month’s break from cricket, following India’s successful 1-0 series win against Sri Lanka in the three-match Tests. Rohit Sharma led the team in the ODI series against the Lankans in Kohli’s absence, helping the team come from 1-0 down to a 2-1 win in the three-match series.
On Wednesday, the 30-year-old Rohit once again led from the front as the team kicked off the T20 series in style, beating Thisara Perera’s men by 93 runs.
Virat Kohli will return to action for India’s upcoming tour of South Africa, which is set to start on January 4.
