Kochi: Banned cricketer S. Sreesanth opposed the stand taken by BCCI in the punishment imposed on him. He vehemently opposed the submission made by BCCI and said that the BCCI CEO, Rahul Johri had no authority to file an affidavit. BCCI had submitted that there were no new circumstances warranting a removal of life ban on Sreesanth and issue him No-Objection Certificate to play in Scottish Premier League. The court, meanwhile, directed him to reply to BCCI’s claims.

It posted to April 28, for detailed hearing in the petition filed by Sreesanth seeking a directive to BCCI to lift the life ban imposed on him after the IPL spot-fixing scandal. According to Sreesanth, though the Patiala Sessions court discharged him from the scam, the ban imposed on him has not revoked. After it refused to nullify the ban, he had sent a legal notice to the board on February 16, 2017, but got no response from it. The petition stated that Sreesanth  was invited by Scotland’s Glenroth Club to play premier league there, for which the NOC from BCCI was mandatory.
