Virat Kohli set to break Sachin Tendulkar's ODI record; find out more
Kohli brought up his 36th ODI century during the first match against the Windies on Sunday
Visakhapatnam: India cricket captain Virat Kohli needs no introduction in terms of scoring runs. Having already broken numerous records over the past few years, the 29-year-old looks set to do more of the same in the ongoing ODI series against West Indies.
Kohli brought up his 36th ODI century during the first match against the Windies on Sunday, and he is just 81 runs shy of breaching 10,000 runs in 50-over cricket.
Not only that, he looks set to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record of becoming the fastest to reach the milestone. The legendary Master Blaster took 259 innings to reach the milestone and Kohli has only played 204 ODI innings so far.
The Delhi cricketer has so far aggregated 889 ODI runs this year, and is fourth in terms of the leading 50-over run-getters in 2018, which is led by Jonny Bairstow (1025 runs).
However, Kohli has a far more better average than Bairstow. While the Indian averages 127, the 29-year-old English cricketer averages just 46.59.
