Mohammed Shami set to miss England ODIs
Rohit Sharma has already been ruled out for the England ODIs, while Ajinkya Rahane remains doubtful.
Mumbai: In a huge blow to India’s pace bowling department, ace fast bowler Mohammed Shami is set to miss out on the three-match ODI series against England, starting next year.
Shami, who has been struggling with a problem on his right knee, injured himself in the third Test against England, and had to pull out of the last two matches. According to reports, the paceman is now set to miss out on the three ODIs and three T20Is against England, in January next year.
The likes of Ishant Sharma, Dhawal Kulkarni and Barinder Sran are set to get the nod for the national squad for the series.
Shami has previously struggled with his left knee, and went under the knife for the same after the 2015 ICC World Cup.
Among the batsmen, has already been ruled out of the squad due to a thigh injury, while Ajinkya Rahane remains doubtful, as he sustained a finger injury during the England Tests. Karun Nair has become an overnight favourite to earn a call-up to the ODI squad after his unbeaten 303 in the fifth Test against Chennai.
