Mumbai: Team India captain Virat Kohlli has had a busy start to 2018 so far. Having lost the Test series to South Africa in South Africa with a 2-1 result, the Men in Blue bounced back the ODIs to win their first ever bilateral series in the rainbow nation.

The ongoing Twenty20 series against the Proteas is currently level at 1-1, and the visitors will look to sign off the tour with another series in the bag.

The third T20 will be played on Saturday in Cape town.

However, the road ahead for Team India and their cricketers is not easy. While the Nidahas Trophy involving Sri Lanka and Bangladesh kicks off on March 6, that tournament will conclude on March 18.

This competition will be followed by the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) and the country’s long tour to England, as they start preparations for next year’s World Cup.

According to Times of India, some top Indian cricketers could be rested for the tri-nbation tournament in Sri Lanka. These players include the likes of captain Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah.

If Kohli is rested for the tournament, Rohit Sharma will be the candidate to lead the side.

“What is the point of sending these cricketers after such a hectic South African tour,” a team source was quoted saying to TOI.

There will be a total of seven matches in the tournament, with the seventh encounter being the final. Sri Lanka and India will face-off in the first match on March 6 in Colombo.
