Mumbai: Tempers flared as Rohit Sharma had a go at the on-field umpire during the Mumbai Indians tie against Rising Pune Supergiant here on Monday.

The hometeam’s hopes of sealing their seventh consecutive win were dashed as the Steve Smith-led Pune team held its never in the final over finish.

Rohit, who was a key to MI’s fortunes as they needed 17 runs in the final over to win the match, had hit a six on the second ball after Hardik Pandya’s dismissal on the first delivery. With equations coming down to 11 runs off 4 balls, Jaydev Unadkat, who was bowling the last over the match, bowled one near the tramline as Rohit shuffled across. While Rohit thought it was a wide delivery, on-field umpire S Ravi thought it otherwise.

It was clear that Rohit was livid with the decision as he walked towards the umpire angrily. Before the matters go out of hand, the square-leg umpire A Nand Kishore intervened.
