Mumbai: The sudden demise of Bollywood icon Sridevi on Sunday sent shockwaves across the nation. The actor (54) died due to cardiac arrest in Dubai, where she had gone to attend her nephew Mohit Marwah's wedding.

Not only Bollywood personalities but also Indian sportspersons sent their condolences to the family through social media. Pakistani cricketers Waqar Younis and Shoaib Akhtar also joined in and conveyed their condolence messages.

Sridevi has given many ioconic films to bollywood in ther stellar career as an actor. She has played lead roles in some of the hit films like "Sadma", "Lamhe" "Mr India", "Chandni" and "Himmatwala". She made her comeback in 2012 with Gauri SHinde’s movie with "English Vinglish"

Sridevi was seen in last year's revenge-drama "Mom" opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna. She shot for a special appearance in superstar Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film "Zero" which releases in December.

Sridevi is survived by husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters Janhvi and Khushi.

“It is really, really sad. When I woke up and read about it, it is really sad. I have no words to express to what I feel because we all grew up watching her and suddenly to hear that she is no longer with us, it is hard to digest that. My condolences to her family members and everyone, who has followed her career. Loved her for everything she was and everything she did for us,” Sachin Tendulkar told ANI.
