IPL 2018: Rayudu can help us win final vs SRH, says CSK coach Stephen Fleming
Having already scored 586 runs from 15 matches, Rayudu got selected in India's ODI squad for England series later this year.
Mumbai: Ambati Rayudu has proved with his recent performances as to why he is an integral part of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Having already scored 586 runs from 15 matches, Rayudu got the good news of being selected in India's ODI squad for England series later this year.
Ahead of CSK's IPL final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday, Chennai coach Stephen Fleming was all praise for Rayudu, and stressed on the importance of his match-winning contributions.
"Rayudu has been very good. He has been one of the players to have contributed in match-winning performances. It is good to see him get some game time and gain confidence. The way he has done it has been rewarding from the coach and auction point of view", the former New Zealand cricketer said during the pre-match press conference.
Rayudu, earlier this season, had slammed his maiden IPL hundred when he guided CSK to an eight-wicket win against SRH in Pune, CSK's adopted home venue.
Fleming was hopeful that CSK would witness another match-winning performance from Rayudu.
"I guess teams win competitions when individuals win finals. So, we are looking again for that match-winning performance. It is going to have to come because the opposition are very good. He (Rayudu) is capable of doing that (match-winning performance) just like a number of other players. The load really has been shared throughout the tournament," Fleming added.
While CSK will look to add a record-equalling third title, SRH would be eager to add their trophy no 2 under their belt.
The 'Southern Derby' final will take place in Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
