Yograj Singh makes remarkable U-turn, says he is a ‘fan of Dhoni’; watch
Yograj’s remarkable U-turn came after MS Dhoni decided to take a two months time off to serve for the paramilitary regiment.
Mumbai: Lately, for some time, Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh has been in the news for blaming MS Dhoni. Yograj claimed that MS Dhoni intentionally led India to a semi-final defeat in the 2015 and 2019 World Cup semi-final. Yuvraj’s father also accused Dhoni of ousting Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag during the time when Dhoni was in charge of the team.
Recently, Yograj in an interview with News 24 Sports, has made a remarkable U-turn by stating that he never accused Dhoni for the defeats in the semis. Yograj also went on to say that he is a fan of Dhoni who will be serving his paramilitary regiment for two months.
Earlier, few videos had gone viral after Yograj Singh had made a jibe on Dhoni. The 38-year-old wicket-keeper batsman was called a “filthy” player after the selectors dropped Ambati Rayudu for the 2019 World Cup squad. The ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ actor has always criticized Dhoni for not selecting Yuvraj Singh in the squad despite being fit.
Nonetheless, during the interview, Yograj made it clear that he never accused MS Dhoni for the India’s defeats in the semis and if somebody has made that kind of a remark then it definitely wasn’t him. In the interview he can seen praising the wicket-keeper for being a responsible and sensible man who is serving his paramilitary regiment. Yograj also praised Dhoni for his impressive captaincy skills.
“I never said this. I never blamed MS Dhoni for the loss. It is not my version. You have asked a wrong question to the wrong person”, Yograj said.
I am a Dhoni fan
After Dhoni decided to take time off to serve for his paramilitary regiment for two months, Yograj Singh was all for praise for him. Yograj felt that one should follow Dhoni and learn how to serve one’s own nation like the way Dhoni is serving for a long time now. Yograj also praised the former Indian captain for taking some good decisions during the time he was captaining the team.
The 61-year-old lastly added, “There is no doubt that he has been serving the nation for a long time. He is a legendary player. In fact, I am Dhoni’s fan. The way he has played the cricket, the way he has led the side, the kind of decisions he has taken, has been very good.”
Yograj’s remarkable U-turn came after MS Dhoni decided to take a two months time off to serve for the paramilitary regiment. However, at the end Yograj indirectly tried to mock Dhoni again.
