Mohali: Indian spinners are in for a treat when the hosts take on Australia for a spot in the semis of the ICC World T20, here on Sunday.

According to media reports both ICC and BCCI sources have confirmed that Women’s World T20 match between India and West Indies will be played on the same wicket where the India versus Australia match will be played.

As such when India come out to bowl, there will be a minimum of at least 40 overs that were already bowled on the strip. Consequentially there will be wear and tear which in turn will help spinners.

Not many runs were scored on this wicket. As compared to the Wankhede strip in Mumbai, where over 200 runs were scored in a single innings, this pitch favours the spinners.

However, questions are being raised on how staging associations are preparing a wicket that might help the home team during a ICC tournament?

“Pitch rotation plans were sent to ICC a month back and they ratified everything. So there is no room of controversy,” Daljit Singh, Mohali’s curator, told a leading news channel.

However, Australia too have a competent spinner in Adam Zampa. The leg-spinner captured a couple of wickets against Pakistan. A heated contest awaits fans in Mohali. With both teams vying for one in a winner takes-it-all battle, the encounter surely promises to be ‘paisa vassol’.
