Chennai: Chennai Super Kings missed the services of their talismanic skipper for the second time this season when Mahendra Singh Dhoni was ruled out of IPL match against Mumbai Indians due to a bout of fever, here at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.

It’s only the fifth time Dhoni missed an IPL game for Super Kings. Recently, Dhoni had opted to sit out of the game against Sunrisers at Hyderabad to nurse his back. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja also missed the match due to fever. It forced CSK to make three changes in the squad.

To accommodate another left-arm spinner, Mitchell Santner and Faf du Plessis had to be benched. Dhruv Shorey and Murali Vijay walked into the XI. Ambati Rayudu kept the wickets, while Suresh Raina led the team. “MS and Jaddu are not well, they have fever. We have three changes: MS, Jaddu and Faf,” Raina said after winning the toss.
