Cricket fraternity congratulates Imran Khan ahead of new political innings

Imran Khan had led Pakistan to their only World Cup win so far back in 1992.

Lahore: Cricket World Cup-winning captain Imran Khan is set to become Pakistan’s new Prime Minister after his party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) took an extensive lead in the ongoing general elections in the country.

Imran, who led Pakistan to World Cup victory in 1992, received loads of praise from people across the globe.

His former Pakistan teammates and other cricketers congratulated him via Twitter.

“Imran is the epitome of setting the bar high and reaching it. Congratulations & good luck to my cricketing hero, Imran Khan,” former India cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar wrote.

“It was in your leadership skip @ImrankhanPTI that we became world champions in 1992. It is in your leadership that we can again become a great democratic country. #voteforkapatan#nayapakistan,” Wasim Akram tweeted.

Other cricketers too joined in wishing the cricketer-turned-politician the best ahead.
