Pratheek on cloud nine

Hyderabad: Manchester CC captain Sai Pratheek wreaked havoc on HUCC by picking nine wickets for just nine runs in 14 overs in a Hyderabad Cricket Association two-day league match. The 11th HUCC batsmen was absent hurt thus depriving Pratheek a full bounty.

The off-spinner’s figures of 14-9-9-9 meant HUCC were bundled out for just 55, in reply to Manchester’s 224. Pratheek’s team pocketed four points, courtesy the mammoth 169-run win.

Earlier, Pratheek sizzled with the bat too when he scored 72 off 103 deliveries, with two sixes and seven fours.

N. Rakesh Goud of Adilabad District shone with the ball by scalping five Sri Shyam batsmen while conceding 28 runs. Earlier, Sri Shyam’s Kishore took a five-wicket haul (20-0-97-5).

Charminar’s leg-spinner Adnan Ahmed spun a web around Nizam College as he returned with figures of 8-2-14-5 to leave Nizam tottering at 82/7 when stumps were drawn for the day.

Overnight rains in the city played spoilsport as many matches were called off without a ball being bowled.

In the three-day league, Saketh Sai Ram of Jai Hanuman returned with a five-wicket haul (37.5-6-108-5) against EMCC.

In another match, Ashwin Yadav’s 5/55 (15.3-0-55-5) helped SBI take the first innings lead against Andhra Bank.
