Bengaluru: Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane created history as he becomes the first cricketer from Nepal to be brought by Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisee during player’s auction. Lamichhane was brought by Delhi Daredevils at his base price of 20 Lakhs.

The 17-year-old was the star for Nepal Under-19 team in 2016, when he single handedly took his team to eighth place during the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.

The young leg spinner was instrumental in team’s success as he picked up 14 wickets and ended up as the second highest wicket taker in the tournament behind Namibia pacer Fritz Coetzee(15 wickets).

His performance during the World Cup helped him feature in International Cricket Council (ICC) Future Stars XI.
