Ind vs NZ: Here's why Vizag ODI could be special for Rohit Sharma
The star Mumbaikar will be playing in his mother's hometown as India take on New Zealand in the series-decider.
Vizag: Rohit Sharma will be eager to turn the tide and end the poor run of form in the ongoing ODI series as India take on New Zealand in the series deciding fifth and final game of the five-match series at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag on Saturday.
The star Indian cricketer, who is a record-holder of highest individual score in an ODI innings, has the scores of 14, 15, 13 and 11 in the first four games of the series.
For the Mumbaikar the match will be special as he is set to play in his mother’s, Purnima Sharma’s, hometown. And if he manages to score big and power India to a win, that could be a nice present for his mother.
Sharma has previously scored 90 off 98 balls as India took on West Indies.
While his place in the India’s limited-overs line-up is not under threat, he will need to contribute heavily in the Vizag ODI as India chase series win. He playing a big part will be crucial as it will lessen the burden on Virat Kohli and could allow the relatively inexperienced middle order an opportunity to play with utmost freedom.
