Watch: Suresh Raina consoles emotional MS Dhoni during CSK return talk

Chennai: Cricket fans on Thursday witnessed a different side of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni when he got emotional during an event.

Dhoni was speaking during a CSK event recently, and the video of him getting emotional went viral on social media.

After a while, his CSK teammate Suresh Raina went upto him and offered him some water.

Dhoni was reflecting on the return of the CSK franchise to the Indian Premier League (IPL) fold.

"What's important is to go through everything with a smile on your face but what's next is what is important for us. We are back, we are back," he said in the video.

He also said that he missed playing for CSK, a team where he started his IPL career.

“It was a very emotional moment…since I have started playing T20 cricket represented the Indian cricket team, Jharkhand team in few tournaments and CSK for eight years, so it was an emotional moment not to see myself in yellow,” he said.

The Chennai-based franchise is returning back to the cash-rich league after a tw-year hiatus due to spot-fixing.

Dhoni will once again lead the side, with CSK locking horns with Mumbai Indians in the first match at Wankhede Stadium on April 7.

The ‘Thala’, as he is often called by fans, was retained by the franchise during the IPL player retention event in January, along with Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja.

The eight-team tournament will go on for over a month, with the final in Mumbai on May 27.
