Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal declared dead' on social media

The incident happened ahead of the semifinal clash between Umar Akmal's Lahore Whites and Faisalabad, which the former won by 10 runs.

Karachi: Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal on Monday received a shock when rumours of his death sparked the social media platform last week.

Reacting to this, Akmal took to Twitter to confirm that he is afe, and requested people not to spread fake rumours.

The incident happened ahead of the semifinal clash between Umar Akmal's Lahore Whites and Faisalabad, which the former won by 10 runs.

The 27-year-old Akmal has not played for Pakistan since an ODI against Australia in Adelaide in January this year.

After helping his team in the semifinal of the National T20 Cup in Pakistan, Umar Akmal will hope to clinch the trophy as his side Lahore Whites take on Lahore Blues in the final on Thursday.
